This month we have a delicious and hearty seasonal recipe from Andrew Swann, the head chef at the renowned Paradise by way of Kensal Green.
Housed in a building dating back to 1892, the impressive gastro pub takes its name from a line in the G.K Chesterton poem, The Rolling English Road, which refers to the nearby Victorian Kensal Green cemetery. Comprising of a bar lounge area, dining room, courtyard garden and roof terrace, as well as a series of upstairs entertainment and private dining rooms, the venue has a little something for everyone from drinking and dining to partying and even karaoke. The karaoke room can accommodate up to 25 guests. Prices start from £30 per hour Sunday to Thursday and £40 per hour on Friday or Saturday.
The bohemian rooms feature elegant furniture, luxurious floral wallpapers, stained glass windows, original wrought iron fireplaces and dramatic chandeliers. The unique gothic interior, referencing the nearby cemetery, includes large stone angel statues and retouched solid terracotta urns that decorate the bar space.
The cuisine is modern British and includes an array of mouth watering dishes, from seared scallop, fennel, orange & poppy seed salad to native breed lobster, garlic mayonnaise & chips. Or why not try something from the brunch or bar menus; avocado, coriander and lime on sourdough toast or steak baguette with caramelised red onion, béarnaise sauce and chips perhaps.
