As the Community Champions programme
moves into 2019 we have some exciting new
projects and activities on the horizon.
In November we started our very first Baby and Parent Yoga led by the Maternity Champions. The sessions are facilitated by one of our Maternity Champions who is a fully qualified Yoga instructor, and are for parents with babies up to the age of 1 year old. If you’re interested, please contact the Venture Centre to book a place.
We also have our Golborne Community Lunch which takes place every Wednesday, 12pm to 2pm. We provide a healthy cooked meal for £1.50 per person, to bring the community together and promote the positives of healthy eating. In addition to the lunch we have partnered with WAND and City Harvest to host a healthy eating drop-in which runs alongside the Community Lunch. This is a chance to get advice on eating healthily, and provides a range of healthy foods and ingredients that you can take away with you.
We’re also supporting The Wornington Word, a People’s History of The Wornington Green Estate. The project will record and archive the history of the estate’s residents from the 1960s up to recent times with oral histories, photos and a documentary that will be archived in Kensington Central and North Kensington Libraries. The Community Champions will be involved in supporting the project alongside Renegade Theatre who will be taking the lead on the year-long programme.
