Wornington Green’s Community Kitchen Garden has been recognised for the 5th year running in the London in Bloom and Royal Horticulture Society’s ‘It’s your Neighbourhood’ awards, this year achieving a highly sought after and hard to achieve level 4 award.
The community garden received a level 3 award last year, and achieving the level 4 award marks significant progress and success. Level 4 is one level below the highest level achievable, and is awarded for gardens that are thriving and bearing fruit.
The garden includes twenty plots featuring an increased variety of fruits and vegetables, a few of which remain to be allocated to further residents in Wornington Green with a love of greenery.
We also continue to provide regular workshops facilitated by Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea’s community kitchen gardeners, which teach residents useful skills, such as the best vegetables and fruits to plant depending on the season and how to maintain the garden.
The plots holders said:
“Winning the award for the 5th time running is the result of the enthusiasm, hard work and passion of our residents in maintaining and developing the garden, alongside continuing support from staff at Catalyst and the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. The plot holders are very proud and excited to gain a level 4 and be recognised for our high standards, and look forward to welcoming more keen gardeners in the community and achieving a level 5 in the very near future!”
