Over the summer 18 residents at Wornington Green attended three design workshops with architects Conran & Partners, Ireland Albrecht and NewmanFrancis.
The purpose of these workshops was for residents to present their views and comments on different areas of design for the ongoing redevelopment. This included details about internal layouts for the new homes and communal areas. Some of the key questions raised related to kitchens, bathrooms, gardens and landscaping, entrances and bike stores. Below is the feedback to some of these questions.
Apartment sizes will meet the London Standard requirement.
The placement of windows differ depending on the room sizes. Some will have full height windows and others half height.
Kitchen choices will be agreed at the time properties are allocated.
Some balconies will be in the winter garden style with glass doors.
Entrances and Corridors
Secure bike stores will offer residents a safe place to store bicycles. Entry phone systems will have cameras fitted and local Police have been consulted to ensure properties meet ‘Secure by Design’ standards.
Landscaping and Gardens
The temporary park will remain and the council will consult with the community when a new permanent park is to be considered. Some trees will need to be removed but replanting of new trees is planned. Residents with private gardens will be responsible for their upkeep and maintenance.
