Over the last few weeks a number of advanced Design Group workshops took place. These followed on from the initial workshops that preceded planning permission for Phase 2, which was granted nearly a year ago. The Design Group comprises a selection of residents who have worked closely with the architects from Conran & Partners to help finalise the designs for Phase 2 and ensure that the new homes meet the needs of the people who will live in them.
The recent workshops involved reconvening to take a detailed look at specific items of the design for Phase 2 including the communal areas and corridors, (floor finishes, colour schemes, staircases) entrances to the buildings (including signage and entry systems), bike lock ups, as well as balconies, internal layouts, gardens and landscape design.
The workshops have helped the architects look at the designs for Phase 2 from a resident’s viewpoint. “We really enjoyed the workshops and thought the Design Group raised some useful queries for us to mull over”, said Ben Hassell from Conran & Partners. Similarly, residents have gained an insight into all the factors that architects have to consider when designing new buildings.
