It’s that time of year again! The Notting Hill Carnival is taking place in our neighbourhood on Sunday 24 and Monday 25 August. The carnival has been held every year on the August Bank Holiday weekend since 1966. It’s the largest festival celebration of its kind in Europe.
The carnival consists of an incredible street parade, static sound systems along the route and a range of different food, drink and activities for carnival goers.
As well as all of the carnival fun, Catalyst is well aware of residents’ concerns during carnival. For the fifth year we’re putting plans in place to minimise the negative impact of carnival on the Wornington Green Estate and also for residents living in our new development on Bonchurch Road and Munro Mews.
We will block off anti social behaviour hot spots with fencing and we’ll also have a team of security guards in place on Sunday and Monday. We are liaising with the police and the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea to ensure the event has the minimum possible impact on our residents.
Once the arrangements have been confirmed we will send you a letter, giving you more information and details of the security company we are using.
In the run up to the carnival we will visit all blocks to ensure that all communal external doors are working properly. Please contact us if you are aware of any defective locks or any other potential security risks.
