Residents young and old packed out the Venture Centre on Friday 26 October to celebrate Black History Month and the launch of Generation II Generation, a West London based Community Group.
Performances on the night included an exhibition of African & Street dancing, motivational talks and a speech from Westminster MP, Karen Buck. Several stalls were set up, providing information about local services and activities that residents can get involved in. Guests were treated to homecooked West Indian and Malaysian food, which went down a treat. A guest said; “The event was well managed and the speakers and performers were excellent. A good mixture of education and entertainment, well entertained, well informed, for all generations.”
The event represented an important step in bringing different organisations and groups to work together to organise the event to celebrate Black History Month this year.
The event was organised by Catalyst, Venture Centre and Generation II Generation with support from Age UK Kensington & Chelsea, Wornington Green Community Group and Ardmore. For information about activities organised for residents and how to get involved contact Patricia Poorman on 020 8964 6433.
