We have completed the first year of our joint Age UK Kensington and Chelsea and Catalyst Housing project supporting older residents on the Wornington Green Estate. The feedback has been fantastic and the project has really made a difference to older people’s lives. We managed to double our initial target of helping 20 older residents by offering information and advice and helped over 40 residents with a range of problems such as moving to sheltered housing, general housing problems and general advice.
Various activities have been set up for the residents in the Residents’ Room which are very well attended. The Coffee Afternoon, Bingo and Zumba exercise class are still running and have proved to be very successful.
My main aim for the coming months is to support older residents living in Faraday, Wheatstone, Telford and Lionel Houses with their re-housing as these individuals will be moving in Phase 1 of the regeneration programme.
If you require any help with your move please contact me and I can personalise a package of help for you. In the near future, I will be contacting older residents who will be moving to see what help may be required. Please be assured that I will do everything I can to make your move as smooth as possible.
I am also keen for residents to volunteer to help with our other projects, such as our ‘Cook & Eat’ club and our Crocheting Workshop.
If you have any skills you would like to share with other residents, please contact Bernice on 020 8969 9105 or 07785 345 740 or pop into the Coffee Afternoon in the Residents’ Room on Wednesday afternoons from 2.30pm.
