The Apprentice: You could be hired

If you are interested in a construction apprenticeship at Wornington Green then now is the time to tell us.

We expect to have opportunities for nine apprentices to start by the end of this year. We have so far identified 24 apprenticeship opportunities for the first phase of the redevelopment of Wornington Green and hope to add to that. Mansell, our main contractor, will be offering two technical construction apprenticeships later in the year, which are excellent pathways to Mansell’s own management development programme and further professional qualifications in either Construction Management or Quantity Surveying. Entry requirements for this qualification will be 5 GCSEs at a minimum of A* to C grade.

There will also be four multi-skilled trade apprenticeships available later this year, where candidates will learn a variety of trade skills, including brickwork, carpentry and painting & decorating. Entry requirements for this apprenticeship will be a minimum of Maths and English GCSE at grades A* to C.

Recognising that we need to develop a wide range of training opportunities, we will also offer two business administration apprenticeships and a catering apprenticeship.

We want to make sure that all applicants are ready for the rigours and reality of working on construction sites, so we have put together a pre-apprenticeship programme that will help applicants with their life skills; employability; and offer some practical experience.

If you are interested in an apprenticeship opportunity we will soon be holding an event for you to find out more. In the meantime, you can register your interest by contacting Nick Whitty of Catalyst Gateway on 020 8964 6434 or nicholas.whitty@chg.org.uk
