There is nothing like spending a sunny afternoon listening to good music in a friendly and relaxed environment and enjoying a free hot lunch! And that’s exactly what over 250 local people did at Portobello’s Park Party, held in Athlone Gardens.
At this free, fun packed event, there was something for everyone to enjoy. A host of family-friendly activities was provided, including traditional games, tombola, arts & crafts, an inflatable climbing wall and face painting, just to name a few.
Visitors were treated to free Pilates, Yoga Dance and Boxing taster sessions, courtesy of the Golborne Community Champions Project, which operates from the Venture Community Centre. RBKC Community Kitchen Gardeners also hosted a gardening workshop.
We also kicked off the consultation on Phase 3. The architects Conran & Partners were on hand to answer questions. Visitors were reminded of what we have built so far, updated on the progress of Phase 2, and had the chance to comment on key developments in the masterplan for Phase 3. Residents could also sign up to be part of the Design Working Group.
We would like to say thank you to United Living for their donation towards the event. Special thanks also go to Golborne Community Champions, Wornington Green Community Group, the Residents’ Steering Group, Mangrove Steel Band and all the performers who took part in the event.
The event was organised by Catalyst, Golborne Ward Community Champions, Wornington Green Residents’ Steering Group and Wornington Green Community Group.
