Youth Action Alliance

Youth Action Alliance (YAA) is a charity delivering youth and community programmes for children and young people across the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea and surrounding boroughs.

Previously known as the Wornington Green Detached Project, YAA has been running since the early 1990s. They currently provide a range of activities and specialist programmes, working from their Portakabin base on Wornington Green, in the Catalyst Community Shop at Paul House, and out across the community.

The Portakabin has recently been revamped and is open for visitors again. YAA’s youth projects have resumed and they welcome residents to come and visit to have a cup of tea with the team! They are always accepting new members and are keen to work more closely with residents. The core YAA offer currently includes:

  • Football sessions and a league team
  • Personal training and development for young men (15-19)
  • Work with girls in schools and the local community
  • Development and emotional support for young people including CV workshops, goal-setting and signposting
  • Play provision and Summer programmes in RBKC and Brent
  • Dance workshops
  • Community events such as the North Kensington Community Youth Festival (#NKCYF)

Catalyst supports the running of the YAA Chrysalis Girls Group, which runs at our Community Shop every Wednesday. The group has been running since September 2017 and has been a great success, with young women attending from across North Kensington alongside Catalyst residents. The Chrysalis group takes part in fun activities each week as well as some trips and outings. The group are even working towards an amazing residential trip to Brighton in February half term, followed by more weekly sessions that will run indefinitely.

Any young women (11-17) are welcome to join the group, so give YAA a call or pop along to the next session. To get in touch email emily@youthactionalliance.org or telephone 020 8964 3149
