In October, the neighbourhood welcomed our new Independent Tenant Advisers. A team of people from Public Voice is working with the residents and the RSG: Simon, Christine, Rob and Roda.
The team will train, advise and support the Residents’ Steering Group in our discussions with Catalyst, to ensure that the residents’ voice is heard on the regeneration project. Now that the architects have been selected for Phase 3, we want to ensure that they hear our experiences of the first phase and make improvements in the design of the new homes.
Public Voice will also give advice to individual families that are yet to move, and will pick up on any issues and problems that people are experiencing in the new homes.
In October, they went on a walkabout with Jonathan Sampaney, a Housing and Regeneration Coordinator at Catalyst, and RSG members Christine and Cheryl. They met residents and talked about issues on both Wornington Green and Portobello Square.
At the Residents’ Steering Group meetings in October and November, we talked about what we want them to do to support us, including training which will start this year.
We also held a coffee morning with them at Portobello Hall in November, and they attended the Christmas Party in December.

Thanks to all the Residents’ Steering Group members for their hard work in 2017, and we look forward to a productive 2018.
The Independent Tenant Advisor is paid for by Catalyst, to ensure residents have access to an independent source of information and advice. Catalyst worked closely with the RSG on the tender for the contract and throughout the appointment process.
