As you know, it has been a busy few months with the demolition of Edward Kennedy and 65-96 Pepler Houses and 192 & 194 Wornington Road getting started. We’ve been pleased with the communication from Catalyst, and are continuing to work closely with them to ensure that residents receive regular and clear information and updates.
Two of our members are involved in the tender process for the new construction contractor that will build the homes in Phase 2. This has been a thorough process with multiple stages and we have made sure residents’ concerns and needs were considered throughout.
Like many of you, we are concerned about the impact the Notting Hill Carnival has on the neighbourhood. Around the time of the Carnival last year, we collected opinions of local people about this annual event, and the majority of those asked felt that Wornington Green should be closed to the public, like other estates in the local area.
We sent this information to the police and the council for them to take into consideration when planning for Carnival this year. Over the summer, the council consulted on what local people would like to see in the new community centre, which will be built in Phase 3. We hope you were able to give your thoughts.
As a group, we wrote a response to the council as part of this consultation process. In November, we held our last public meeting of 2016. Thank you to everyone who came – it was very nice to celebrate the RSG’s successes with you all. We are keen to increase the number of residents attending these meetings, so if you have any topics you want to find out more about, please go to newmanfrancis.org/ projects/wornington-green to fill out the comment form with your requests.
You can also access the NewmanFrancis website newmanfrancis.org/projects/wornington-green – to read minutes from previous meetings or to leave any thoughts or comments you may have.
This year we are looking forward to working with the Independent Tenant Advisor, NewmanFrancis, and to meeting more of you, our neighbours. We will continue to represent you and our community in regular meetings and in conversations with Catalyst. We will be holding events throughout the year, so watch out for your invitation!
Last, but not least, we send our best wishes to everyone who has recently moved, or will soon be moving, into their new homes at Hardy Mansions.
