In the last issue of Here & Now we asked you for your priorities for a Neighbourhood Strategy that we’re developing for the local area to make sure that it is well managed, stays looking great and provides opportunities for local people to live well.
By studying data about the neighbourhood and talking to residents we identified 19 issues for making the neighbourhood a better place to live. The survey in the last issue of Here & Now asked you to identify your top five priorities.
We received 45 completed surveys. Here’s what you told us;
Your top five priorities were as follows:
1. Helping adults and young people get into work
2. Support and social activities for elderly people
3. Cleaner streets/addressing dog fouling
4. Improved environment (plants, artworks, seating, paving)
5. Improved lighting (streets and blocks)
Thanks to everyone who completed a survey. The winner of the prize draw was Alfredo who lives on Bonchurch Road.
The next steps in developing the neighbourhood strategy are to meet with local organisations, work out the best way to address these issues and who is best placed to provide services. There are also some issues that we can start to tackle directly such as dog fouling and planting.
