Local residents have been getting fit, thanks to the new Portobello Walks initiative, which started Tuesday 8 July. The walks are free, fun, suitable for all fitness levels and are led by trained volunteers who ensure that everyone is looked after and has a great time.
You don’t need to live on Wornington Green to join the group; everybody is welcome, just turn up at the meeting point (detailed below) with a bottle of water and a smile. Remember to wear appropriate footwear for walking and clothing suitable for the weather condition.
All walks will start promptly at the advertised start time, so ensure you arrive a few minutes early to avoid missing out. Don’t worry if it’s your first time, the walk leader will greet you at the meeting point, welcome you to the group and brief you on the route.
These resident-led walks have been officially recognised by the Ramblers Association’s National Walking for Health programme. For more information contact Patricia Poorman on firstname.lastname@example.org or 0300 456 2099.
