Recovery Programme

Plans are now well underway to deliver the new homes in Block 2, the third and final block to be built in Phase 1 (on Portobello Road) more quickly by demolishing Lionel House and part of Telford House earlier than initially planned.

All residents in Lionel House have now been re-housed and the block was handed over to Ardmore in November. The Telford car park has been closed and residents have been re-allocated bays in other car parks or applied for on-street parking. Hoarding has gone up around Lionel House and the car park area to prepare for the demolition of Lionel House and creation of the new temporary park. Pedestrian access will be maintained to Breakwell, Watts and Chiltern Houses via the main entrance opposite Wheatstone House at all times during the demolition works.

The Catalyst Offices have moved from 370 Portobello Road (the blue Portacabin) to 314b Ladbroke Grove in the row of shops next to Norman Butler House, near the Barlby Road roundabout (refer to map). The Portacabin is being dismantled in January followed by work to create the new temporary park. Residents living in the immediate area have been informed about the planned works.

All of the residents living in the part of Telford House due to be demolished early have now moved into their new homes (temporary or permanent). This part of Telford House has now been handed over to Ardmore for demolition. A number of residents have chosen to stay in Telford House during the demolition works, rather than move somewhere else temporarily before they are permanently re-housed. We are in regular contact with these residents to provide information and support.

The demolition of Telford and Lionel Houses and the creation of the new temporary park will result in changes to the construction traffic management plan. We will provide more information once plans have been agreed with the Council.

We recognise that the on-going construction activities can cause disruption and inconvenience to people living and working close to the site. We produce fortnightly updates to keep people informed which are displayed on noticeboards in blocks and around the site.
