Knitting for a good cause

Older clients at Age UK have been madly knitting small hats to go on the top of the bottles of Innocent Smoothies (over 250 of them at the last count), which will go on sale soon in supermarkets and shops. The idea is that money raised will go towards helping older people stay healthy, warm and well in the winter. In partnership with Age UK Kensington and Chelsea, Innocent will donate 25 pence for each hat knitted and the money raised will go towards providing services for older people.

Our knitters (Age UK staff and clients) have been very busy knitting and we have had an excellent response from our knitting club, which is held every Wednesday afternoon from 2pm at Café Nova in Thorpe Close, W10. Why not come along and join in!

One knitter said “We are glad to be helping such a good cause which will also help older people this winter”.

Ongoing support is still being offered to older residents in Wornington Green. If you are an older resident looking for some support you can contact Age UK K&C and they will help ensure your needs are being met. Things we can help with include a benefits check, a referral to social services, help with decluttering, a befriender or even an escort to go to the dentist or doctor.

If you need support why not pop in to the social and fun coffee afternoons every Wednesday from 2.30pm onwards in the Residents’ Room at 8c Chiltern House. Or you can contact Bernice Semple, on either 020 8969 9105 or 07785 345 740 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays.
