As many residents will already know, the park at Athlone Gardens will be affected by the construction works. Half the existing park is now fenced off and the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea is preparing to start work on a temporary play area in the remaining park with a start date in February.
Throughout the construction works, there will always be a park to use. But when the development is complete a new high quality park equivalent in size to the original Athlone Gardens will be available.
In the meantime, a selection of the nearest alternative play areas appears here highlighting various Council facilities in the northern part of the borough.
Located at the Venture Centre on Wornington Road, this adventure playground has recently been upgraded and extended to include facilities suitable for a wide range of ages. This also includes play spaces adapted for children with disabilities.
Another of the borough’s adventure playgrounds, this site on Adair Road features high wooden pyramids, which
have proved to be an instant hit with younger residents.
Located on Bevington Road, this play space offers facilities for younger children and toddlers within a secure environment.
This play area located within the Swinbrook Estate offers a handy alternative space and has also been adapted for children with disabilities.
