You may already have met me on the doorstep, or at the 29 September Residents’ Steering Group meeting. I’m going to provide regular updates in Here & Now on what’s happening at the Steering Group, and other things which the ITA service has been involved with.
There was a good attendance – 16 residents turned up along with Catalyst Housing Officers, the ITA and David Tigg, the ITA Service Architectural Adviser.
Residents said that they wanted to work with Catalyst to improve communications regarding the regeneration project.
Residents raised several issues which will be tackled at the steering group and in other ways, including:
Conor Kilbane from Catalyst talked about the phasing of the regeneration, along with design and development issues, and invited volunteers to attend an ITA-delivered training session to then elect two residents to sit on the contractor tender re-appointment panel in November.
The organisation now delivering the ITA Service, TPAS, has given consistently good independent advice to residents on regeneration over the years. In addition to monthly meetings of the Steering Group, we co-ordinate the following activities:
All of these activities will help residents make a real difference to the regeneration activities and to translate thoughts into action, in partnership with Catalyst. David Tigg has great experience of residential, commercial and mixed-use regeneration projects, and will be available to talk to residents at some of the surgeries.
A good way to make sure your views are made known is to come along to the Residents’ Steering Group. There are also one- to-one ITA-run surgeries between 3.45pm and 5.30pm in the Venture Centre before each Steering Group meeting, where you can talk through issues on the regeneration in confidence, and get information.
Don’t forget about the TPAS freephone line – 0800 731 1619 (9am – 5pm weekdays) or the ITA mobile number – 07956 635233 – if you want a confidential discussion – or you can email me on firstname.lastname@example.org.
I look forward to meeting you at the next Residents’ Steering Group meeting and/or at the Surgery beforehand!
Paul Reeves, your ITA from TPAS
