There was a lively Residents’ Steering Group meeting on Thursday 27 October. Topics covered included news on selecting the new contractor for Phase 1 and on the successful pre-contractor procurement training to help the two tenants on the panel test bidders’ knowledge and experience. There was interest in how the development would be paid for – EC Harris will discuss this at a future meeting. Residents made it clear that they wanted to be fully involved in the plans for Phases 2-5, and that the key purpose of your Resident Steering Group is to ensure that everyone knows exactly what is happening and when.
The opening of the Information Sales Centre – on 14 November – was also highlighted. Catalyst staff outlined what was being done to help people into work, and there was a discussion about problems which make life difficult like Anti Social behaviour, and how to tackle them.
All residents are welcome to attend and have a say about what they think and get information. The Steering Group meeting takes place on the last Thursday of every month, between 6.00pm and 8.00pm at the Venture Centre.
Since the last Steering Group meeting, the Head of Consultancy at TPAS has advised us that Paul Reeves, the Independent Tenant Adviser, has been removed from the project which means that he will no longer be involved in delivering an independent resident advice service to the residents of Wornington Green. A Steering Group meeting was held on Thursday 24 November, facilitated by TPAS Head of Consultancy, Jon Warnock. Jon discussed a proposal for taking forward the service to ensure that there is a smooth transition.
Catalyst Housing and TPAS is committed to ensuring that the Independent Advice Service is not adversely affected by this change and will not result in any undue delay nor have any detrimental effect on the quality of the service being offered by TPAS. A special meeting will be held on Thursday 15 December, between 6.00pm and 8.00pm at the Venture Centre to give residents the opportunity to select the new team that TPAS will be putting forward.
